Description
Established in 1843, Antwerp ZOO is one of the oldest zoos worldwide and Belgium’s oldest animal park. Designed to support zoological and botanical sciences, it combines recreation, education, and culture. The zoo is ideal for families and wildlife enthusiasts alike.
Visitors can explore various exhibits, including Vriesland reptile house, a century-old aquarium, Savannah Aviary, Egyptian Temple, Hippotopia, and more. The Valley of the Great Apes features gorillas and chimpanzees, while the Buffalo Savannah is home to giraffes, zebras, and white rhinos. Male elephants can be seen testing strength at the Egyptian Temple, and lions play near the children’s playground.
Along with its sister park, Planckendael, Antwerp ZOO houses over 7,000 animals representing approximately 950 species.
