Asian Restaurants in Antwerp

Asian food in Antwerp isn’t just your usual takeout fare; it’s got layers and stories. If you walk around the Zuid or near Harmonie, you’ll find everything from Vietnamese pho joints with broth simmered for hours to tiny sushi bars making fresh nigiri right in front of you.

My go-to for spicy Sichuan? Wok Mei on Kloosterstraat nails that numbing kick. And if you’re craving something sweet, try the mango sticky rice at the Thai Corner near Groenplaats, you can tell it’s made with real coconut milk, not some cheap substitute.

One local tip: weekdays around lunch, many Asian spots run deals that won’t break the bank but still deliver big on flavor. Also, skip the obvious tourist strips and wander into the side streets where you’ll find places mostly buzzing with locals. It’s the best way to tell you’re onto something good. Trust me, Antwerp’s Asian scene is more than just sushi and spring rolls,it’s a slice of real Asia in the heart of the city.

My insider tips on Asian dining

If you’re serious about Asian food in Antwerp, don’t just stick to the main streets. Venture over to Steenhouwersvest or along Nationalestraat. These spots hide tiny family-run joints specializing in Korean BBQ and Malaysian laksa.

Pro tip: try booking ahead on weekends because places like Shu are tiny and get packed fast. Also, winter months are perfect for the hot pots at Ding Tai Fung on Frankrijklei. Nothing beats warming up there after a chilly walk around the river.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions on where and what to eat? Here are some answers I often give friends.

Chabrol, near Theaterplein, is a solid bet for ramen lovers. The broth is rich, and the noodles are firm but slurp-worthy. Plus, the vibe there is casual, so you won’t feel out of place even on a quick solo lunch.

Absolutely. Pho Vietnamese on Korte Gasthuisstraat has a surprisingly tasty vegan pho. Also, Lemongrass on Ernest Van Dijckkaai offers solid veggie curries, fresh, fragrant, without skimping on flavor.

It’s getting better. For authentic street snacks, check out I love Dim Sum by the river at Park Spoor Noord. They have dumplings and baos that’ll hit the spot without fuss.

Yes, Sushi Sun on Melkmarkt is a favorite among locals. Prices are fair and the fish is fresh. You might have to wait a little during dinner hours, but it’s worth it.

Vietnamese food is surprisingly strong here. Places like Pho Vietnamese and Little Saigon bring genuine flavors that feel authentic and unpretentious, don’t miss it.
